Align doctor blade properly.

Blade angle is too flat.

Solution:

Sharpen blade angle for a better wipe.

Problem:

Blade position is incorrect.

Solution:

Move back up blade closer to the doctor blade edge.

Problem:

Tension control is poor.

Solution:

Check and adjust tension.

Problem:

Ink is drying too slowly.

Solution:

Add faster drying solvents. For aqueous inks, check and adjust pH.

Problem:

Foreign matter such as paper, substrate dust or pigment particles are present in the ink.

Solution:

Filter and/or replace ink. Eliminate source of foreign matter.
