Lack of Adhesion

After cure, pasteurization or retort, ink does not stay stuck on the can and is easily removed with solvents or scratching.

Problem:

Wet, dirty or “oily” cans from the washer.

Solution:

Check the cans before being printed.

Check over varnish viscosity and foam possibility in the day tank.

Surface tension/energy.

Solution:

Check it during the different washer stages.

Solution:

Reduce coater oven temperature.

Problem:

Over varnish film weight is too low.

Solution:

Increase the over varnish film weight.

Low oven temperature.

Increase the temperature.
